Hollywood Comes to Campus: Havoc Filmed at Swansea University

We’re thrilled to reveal that Havoc – the highly anticipated Netflix thriller starring Tom Hardy and Forest Whitaker – was partly filmed right here at Swansea University! As one of the biggest productions we’ve hosted to date, this marks an exciting milestone for the University’s growing reputation as a dynamic filming location in South Wales.

Directed by Gareth Evans (The Raid), Havoc follows a detective’s journey through the criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son, all while uncovering layers of corruption. South Wales played a starring role in bringing this gritty crime drama to life, and Swansea University was proud to be part of the action.

Our facilities were used by the production team during filming, offering versatile spaces that helped support the behind-the-scenes efforts of a major motion picture. From logistical coordination to providing secure, accessible, and adaptable areas for production teams to base themselves, we were delighted to support such a high-profile project.

South Wales has steadily gained recognition as a filming hub, and this collaboration with Netflix only strengthens the region’s appeal. It also demonstrates how Swansea University is uniquely positioned to support the creative industries, offering both striking locations and first-class amenities.

We’re incredibly proud to have played a part in Havoc’s journey from script to screen. It’s been one of the largest productions to film with us to date, and we look forward to welcoming more film and television projects in the future.
