First Time out of London for 4th International BUCA Conference
On 8th and 9th October our Singleton Park Campus played host to the 4th International Undergraduate Cardiovascular Conference.
The two day event was organised by Swansea University students in conjunction with the British Undergraduate Cardiovascular Association and the British Heart Foundation.
This was the first time that the conference had been held outside of London and we were delighted to be able to host it in the Grove Building on our Singleton Park Campus.
The event brought medical students and junior doctors from around the world together to explore the very latest developments in cardiovascular research. During the conference delegates had the opportunity to access an exciting programme of talks covering a wide range of topics including heart disease in young adults and minimally invasive valve surgery.
Interactive workshops sessions covered:
- Cardiothoracic surgery: Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) simulation
- Cardiac emergencies
- Transcatheter Aortic Value Implantation
- Echocardiography & Interpretation
- Cardiac pathology
Keynote speeches from pioneering researchers and academic clinicians offered inspiration to the audience while poster presentations of original research, audits and systemic reviews together with planned networking opportunities over the course of the two days enabled students and junior doctors to focus on their career progression.
